ItPantheon was once a temple in the center of Rome, but was later converted into a church. It is one of the best preserved buildings in Rome.

Castel Sant'Angelo, also called the Engelburcht, is a military building a short walk from the center. It is a unique and round building of no less than 5 floors high.
This Castel Sant'Angelo has a roof terrace, where you have a beautiful view of Rome.
Although the spiral staircase to this roof terrace, also an attraction in itself, is beautiful.
Day 3, to the smallest country in the world in Rome
What you absolutely cannot miss in Rome is Vatican City, another country in the middle of Rome. We spend the third day of our Rome city trip largely in Vatican City, the smallest country in the world. A cultural attraction that excites everyone, even if you are not religious.
10. St. Peter's Square, the most famous square in Rome
St. Peter's Square is perhaps the most famous square in Rome. Every few years, this square comes into focus again when thousands of people wait for their new pope. Now it can still be busy here on Sundays, when people are waiting for a greeting from the Pope.
This square is located in front of the basilica and welcomes you to the Vatican City.
St. Peter's basilica is one of the most important places in the world for Christianity. And with its height of 136 meters, it is also one of the largest and most impressive churches in the world.
The inside of this basilica is just as impressive as the outside, because it is completely covered with art. There is so much to see in this church.
What is one of the most cool sights in Rome is the dome on top of this church. From this dome you have a panoramic view of Rome, absolutely unforgettable!
You can visit the church itself for free. Make sure you are dressed appropriately. Your knees and shoulders must be covered to be let in here.
Also keep in mind that you will always stand in line here. So factor in some extra time to get to the top of St. Peter's Basilica.
If you are not done with Vatican City after visiting St. Peter's Square and St. Peter's Basilica, there is much more to see and do in Vatican City. So there are the Vatican Museums where you can admire numerous works of art. Or visit thegardens of the Vatican, which are truly beautiful. It is also a nice change from walking the city for a few days, because despite the bustle around the Vatican City, the gardens still feel very quiet and relaxing.
Villa Borghese is a public urban park in Rome. The park is no less than 80 hectares in size, making it the third largest park in Europe. It is a beautiful, green oasis, where you can really escape the city for a while. It's great for a picnic, a walk and an ice cream. Just the perfect place to relax.
You can reach the park by metro or by bus.

Galleria Borghese is a museum in the park of the same name, Villa Borghese. Galleria Borghese contains one of the largest private art collections in the world of the Cardinal Scipione Borghese.
In this museum you will find no fewer than 20 rooms with sculptures, antiques and paintings by famous artists, including Leonarda da Vincci and Caraveggio.

Rome has no less than two airports Ciampino (CIA) or Fiumicino (FCO) where flights from all over the world land daily.
Fiumicino is connected to Rome Termini, Rome's main train station. From this airport you can take the express train to the center of Rome.
Ciampino Airport has shuttle buses that take you to the center of Rome.

Best time to visit Rome
