Jardín Botánico Marimurtra has been around for over a hundred years. In the 1920s, this botanical garden in Blanes was founded by a German, Carl Faust. As a child Carl Faust already had a great passion for everything to do with nature. And when his professional career brought him to Barcelona later in life, he decided to combine his passion for nature with his fascination for Catalonia and start a botanical garden in Blanes. In the end, he gave up his job completely and devoted himself completely to Jardín Botánico Marimurtra. A bronze statue of founder Carl Faust can still be seen on the promenade of Jardín Botánico Marimurtra.


The 3 different gardens of Jardín Botánico Marimurtra

Jardín Botánico Marimurtra consists of three different gardens. The three gardens of Jardín Botánico Marimurtra are filled with flowers and plants from no fewer than five different continents. The three gardens all have their own distinct characteristics. There is a large garden which is completely filled with cacti and succulents. This is one of the oldest parts of Jardín Botánico Marimurtra. In the other gardens you will find a wide variety of different trees, flowers and plants. For example, you can see Chilean palms, Mexican trees and different types of bamboo plants. Walking through the different gardens of Jardín Botánico Marimurtra feels like traveling around the world.




Templet de Linne, the most special place of Jardín Botánico Marimurtra

It is very special to walk through Jardín Botánico Marimurtra and admire the different flowers and plants from all over the world. But Templet de Linne certainly goes a step further. Templet de Linne is one of the most iconic places on the Costa Brava. When you arrive at the last part of Jardín Botánico Marimurtra you will see the high stairs that descend towards Templet de Linne. That only gives Templet de Linne more charisma. This classically built temple offers a breathtaking view over the beautiful bay, with the azure blue water and the high cliffs that lie below Templet de Linne. What a heavenly piece on the Costa Brava.
