Africa in Valencia, Bioparc Valencia

Bioparc Valencia is one of the most beautifully landscaped zoos we have ever seen. The natural environment of the animals is so well recreated that you really have the feeling of walking in another part of the world when you walk through this zoo.

The beautifully landscaped Bioparc Valencia

wow! A zoo is of course always nice to visit, but what makes Bioparc Valencia so special is the way in which this zoo is laid out. Just like the Aquarium in Valencia, every detail of the construction and the decorations in Bioparc Valencia are amazing. In Bioparc Valencia, they have really tried to mimic the natural habitats of the animals in order to maximize the comfort for the animals.

On holiday to the tropics or Africa in Bioparc Valencia

Bioparc Valencia tries to make their guests feel like they are away from Spain and walking around in another part of the world. And I have to admit, it certainly worked. Each animal enclosure has been decorated amazingly and really doesn't feel like a zoo in Spain. They have imitated the feeling of the African game parks very well and, just like in the African game parks, you can also see a lot of animals in Bioparc Valencia. You can admire no fewer than 150 different species of animals in Bioparc Valencia.

The 4 worlds of Bioparc Valencia

Bioparc Valencia is divided into 4 different worlds. Each world in Bioparc Valencia is based on a different part of the world, where you can see the animals that live in these different parts of the world.

The African Savannah, the Africa of Bioparc Valencia

The largest part of Bioparc Valencia consists of the African Savannah. There is a large area in which the different animals can roam freely. Giraffes, rhinoceroses, ostriches, deer (which probably have a different name, but they resembled deer), zebras etc. This part of Bioparc Valencia has a very free feeling and you can admire the animals that roam here from different angles.

Eating in the African Savannah, Bioparc Valencia

Bioparc Valencia has a wonderful restaurant, which they have built right next to the African Savannah. We have been to South Africa and have eaten and slept in the game parks, but eating in this restaurant in Bioparc Valencia comes really close to the real Africa feeling. One of our best memories in South Africa are the giraffes. Before our trip to South Africa, I didn't find these animals that special at all, but since then I really have a soft spot for giraffes. The whole family for that matter. Bioparc Valencia really revived this memory for us. Sitting in the restaurant of Bioparc Valencia, you can see the Giraffes very close by quietly walking by. By the way, the food in this restaurant is also very tasty, which is not unimportant!

Equatorial Forest, a piece of rainforest in Bioparc Valencia

In The Equatorial Forest you can see animals that live in the rainforest. And as tropical as the rainforest is, so tropical are the animales enclosures in Equatorial Forest in Bioparc Valencia. Here you will see one waterfall after another, beautiful rock formations, many tropical plants and of course many special animals.

African Wetlands, the wetlands in Bioparc Valencia

The name of this part of Bioparc Valencia speaks for itself, here they have recreated the wetlands of Africa. And that is certainly impressive. Especially the enclosure of hippos that you can admire underwater, certainly has a WOW effect. Where you can normally only see hippos on land in zoos or with their noses above the water, you can see these animals living under water in Bioparc Valencia. We thought this was very special. The African Wetlands in Bioparc Valencia are certainly very special to see.

Madagascar Island, monkeys in Bioparc Valencia

Madagascar Island is the fourth and final part of Bioparc Valencia. In this part of Bioparc Valencie you can see flamingos and monkeys. That may sound simple and boring, but Madagascar Island is anything but boring. The monkeys roam free here, just like in several other zoos. And if you're lucky, the monkeys will sit next to you for a while to really admire these sweet and cute animals up close. The animals are released from their indoor enclosure at 10:30 a.m. and then run and climb like crazy into their outdoor enclosure on Madagascar Island. That was nice to see. Because it was very busy, we went back again in the afternoon, but by then the monkeys had all withdrawn into the trees due to the heat.

Discover Madagascar Island in Bioparc Valencia early in the day

It is a tip to visit this part of Bioparc Valencia, Madagascar Island on time. Because the later in the day it gets and the warmer it gets, the more the animals retreat for an afternoon nap in the shade. We experienced this first hand. As it got later in the day, we really saw fewer animals and the chance that the animals will come close to you is very small.

Bioparc Valencia is an experience

In Bioparc Valencia, everything is about the experience. They really tried to capture the complete atmosphere of the different parts of the world. And that atmosphere is optimally created in every enclosure and in every path of Bioparc Valencia where you walk.

The view of the animals in Bioparc Valencia

Another big difference with other zoos is that the enclosures here have windows that reach to the ground or almost to the ground. And not one or 2 enclosures, but almost all accommodations have these large windows. By using these large windows in Bioparc Valencia, the view of the different animals and the beautifully landscaped environment is amazing.

Birds of prey show, birds in Bioparc Valencia

Last, but not least, we have the birds of prey show in Bioparc Valencia. We have already seen many of these raptor shows in various zoos. And what makes this show so fun and unique is not the birds, even though birds of prey are always cool to watch. The nice thing about this bird of prey show at Bioparc Valencia is that they also involve other small animals. When you look at the flying birds of prey, you suddenly see other animals running out of the corner of your eye. This bird of prey show in Bioparc Valencia is really very nicely put together.
