In TIrol, close to the border with Germany, you will find one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, the Highline 179. This exciting suspension bridge is not only made to connect two mountains. It unites castles and ancient fortresses with hundreds of years of history.
With a length of no less than 416 meters, this suspension bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. But it's not just the length that makes this bridge so impressive. It is mainly the height of 114.6 meters that makes this bridge truly spectacular.
And with that it is perhaps immediately clear that this suspension bridge is not a good attraction in Austria for people with a fear of heights. And we say that from experience. Although all four of us eventually conquered the suspension bridge, it was not easy and we cannot deny that one of us created a small traffic jam on this bridge.
The first few meters of this steel bridge feel very stable, but the further you walk, the more you will feel the movements in the wind and the movements of the other tourists. This suspension bridge is very safe, but halfway there could be some doubt about when the height and the movement get to you.
But trust us, it is all worth it.
