Casa Battlo
There are many reasons to visit Barcelona, but one of them is the special, iconic buildings in Barcelona. These special structures are the reason that more than 2 million tourists visit Barcelona every year.
One of these buildings is Casa Batllo, one of the unique structures of the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi.
Casa Batllo, a remarkable appearance on Passeig de Gracia
You will find Casa Batllo on Passeig de Gracia, where you will find, next to this iconic building, another special building by Antoni Gaudi, namely La Pedrera.
When you walk down Passeig de Gracia, the facade of Casa Battlo immediately grabs your attention. This facade seems to be made of skulls and bones. In reality, these skulls and bones are balconies with the pillars supporting the balconies.
In addition to these remarkable balconies, it is also the special color of Casa Battlo that attracts attention. This remarkable color choice by Antoni Gaudi is inspired by marine life.
The colors he has chosen for the facade of Casa Battlo are based on the colors of natural coral.

The fact that underwater life was his great inspiration for the design of Casa Batllo is also reflected in the shapes of Casa Battlo.
Casa Batllo, living in one of the most special buildings in Barcelona
Casa Batllo, of course, was not built with the intention of becoming a cultural monument of Barcelona. Antoni Gaudi once built this building for a wealthy aristocrat named Josep Battlo. Casa Batllo was used as a residence by Josep Battlo and his family, at least the lower two floors. The top two floors consisted of apartments, which were rented out.

Casa Batllo, a special facade with an even stranger interior
Although Casa Batllo is already very special to see from the outside, Casa Batllo is really a building that you want to see from the inside. Only from the inside does it become clear how much detail there is in this building. Did you know, for example, that there is not a single straight wall in this building?
Casa Batllo is certainly a house that will amaze you.
